  Descending Sun

As the day grows short and the sky grows weary
And the sun climbs towards the earth
Another day is claimed by God,
And night is given birth.

In amber yellows and turquoise hues
Day turns to night in a spectacular display
Colors churn and fade and melt to night
In streams and swirls of enchanting light.

Happens every day, the setting sun,
Caught by sunset catchers and poetic kinsmen.
Another day is passing by,
As the sun descends into the darkening sky,

The descending sun is God’s dear way
Of making us remember to cherish each day.
We hope and pray we spent it right,
Not wasting one moment on anger, fear or fright.

When the sun disappears into the horizon
And lays the day to rest
Remember the brilliance of the setting sun
And live each day of your life with pure zest.
